Harris County, Texas, has launched a new digital platform to modernize how residents pay property taxes.
The new MyHarrisCountyTax system, said PayIt – the county’s vendor for the project – marks a comprehensive overhaul of the county’s tax payment process, replacing fragmented systems with a unified digital experience designed to make payments easier for residents while boosting efficiency for county staff.
The platform was delivered in just over one hundred days and has been in use since fall 2025, PayIt said on April 2.
The new system has processed more than 468,000 transactions and enrolled more than 185,000 resident profiles, reflecting rapid adoption in a jurisdiction with a large and complex tax base, the vendor said.
“We are committed to modernizing how residents interact with our office, improving the resident experience, and better serving the people of Harris County,” said Annette Ramirez, Harris County’s tax assessor-collector.
“Since its launch, Harris County residents were able to pay their property taxes easily and from anywhere – and our team improved our operations through simpler financial management,” Ramirez said.
According to PayIt, the platform allows taxpayers to pay online for up to 300 properties at once, schedule and make partial payments, sign up for bill reminders, and view past payments within a single interface.
On the technology side, the system integrates online services with the county’s interactive voice response and point of sale systems, creating a unified payments ecosystem across digital, phone, and in-person channels. It also connects with existing back-office systems, allowing the county to maintain continuity while upgrading its capabilities.
For county staff, the platform introduces new administrative tools that provide visibility into transactions across channels, enable real-time monitoring of digital adoption, and support revenue forecasting, the project vendor said.
