The University of Oregon (UO) announced the selection of Abhijit Pandit as its next chief information officer (CIO).

In his new role, Pandit will oversee the university’s information technology services and infrastructure, providing strategic direction for enterprisewide solutions and initiatives. He will start in the new role April 25.

“I am thrilled to have Abhijit join us at the University of Oregon,” said Jamie Moffitt, the university’s vice president for finance and administration and chief financial officer. “His expertise in information technology, data and analytics, and digital transformation will be invaluable as the university continues to strive toward operational excellence and continuous improvement.”

Prior to joining the University of Oregon, Pandit served as chief technology officer and chief data officer at the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU).

“I am incredibly excited for the opportunity to serve the students, faculty and staff of UO,” Pandit said. “Technology has now become fundamental to our ability to work effectively and efficiently, and I believe by continuing to work collaboratively across the campus, Information Services can further enable, accelerate and amplify the impact that UO has on the community.”

In a press release, OU said that while he was at OHSU Pandit led several enterprise-wide change initiatives that focused on modernizing OHSU’s technological infrastructure and meeting emergent business trends such as telehealth services. Additionally, Pandit established an Office of Advanced Analytics, which focused on harnessing the analytical capabilities of the university and supporting OHSU’s data-driven culture.
