The University at Buffalo (UB) School of Management will launch an online Master of Science in Management Information Systems (MIS) program beginning this fall, the university announced May 28.
The new program will offer the same curriculum and faculty as the school’s campus-based MIS program. The university said the online program was developed with input from industry leaders, alumni, and corporate recruiters.
The online program is designed to be completed in an average of two years and requires 31 total credits, according to the School of Management. The program begins in the fall semester, and merit-based scholarships are available.
UB said the degree is aimed at professionals seeking to deepen their technical expertise while expanding business and leadership skills. Prospective students include working technology professionals, people seeking to bridge technology and business, and experienced professionals preparing for roles such as IT manager, product owner, systems architect, project leader, or technology strategist.
“Many of today’s IT practitioners are feeling outpaced by the breakneck growth of the technology ecosystem over the past 10 years,” said Kevin Cleary, director of the MIS program. “This program is ideal for those who are seeking to retool, upskill or update their knowledge in this area.”
Students will gain an understanding of a wide range of emerging technologies, the university said. The curriculum includes instruction in data-driven forecasting and storytelling, generative AI and applied machine learning intelligence, and enterprise technology architecture.
UB said the MIS curriculum will evolve along with the technology landscape. Prospective students can apply through the program’s online admissions page.
